David Fincher is in advanced talks to direct The Social Network, a film about the formation of Facebook. David Fincher most recently directed The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. He is also known for his work on Se7en, Fight Club, and Zodiac.
The script was written by Aaron Sorkin, who also penned A Few Good Men, Charlie Wilson's War, the first four seasons of The West Wing, Sports Night and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
Variety reports the flick will follow the evolution of Facebook from its 2004 creation on the Harvard campus by sophomore Mark Zuckerberg to a juggernaut with more than 200 million members.
IMDb lists the project as on track for 2011, and Variety says the team is hoping "to begin production later this year."
