katy's fashion found

Check out Katie Perry's adorable look while out on the town the night the "I Kissed a Girl" singer was allegedly getting cozy with Paris' Ex, Benji Madden. The pair were cozy after Katy's show at Wasted Space at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on Valentine’s Day.

More noteworthy than the Valentine's Day romance, was Katy's gorgeous coat. Ever edgy old hollywood, Katy chose a feminine coat with a leopard print and lavender ballet flats.

brittany snow takes on the gossip girl spinoff

Brittany Snow has been cast as the young Lily van der Woodsen in the upcoming Gossip Girl spinoff on The CW, reports Star Magazine.

A friend says, "Brittany is thrilled. She loves the original show and thinks the 1980's concept sets the spin-off apart from other series on television. She can't wait to wear all the fabulous outfits and really sink her teeth into the role."

In December, Star reported that a Gossip Girl spin-off was in the works focusing on Lily van der Woodsen's scandalous teen years growing up in 1980s Los Angeles.

Brittany — who has also appeared in movies including Hairspray and John Tucker Must Die — was the top choice for producers, who thought she would be the perfect choice to for the part of young Lily, played on Gossip Girl by Kelly Rutherford. Although the deal has not yet been finalized, they made Brittany a terrific offer in early February without having her audition, reveals the friend.

"Brittany always thought she was going to continue her career in films," continues the insider. "But this is a marvelous part and she just couldn't say no. This has the potential to be a huge show in the tradition of Melrose Place."

The pilot will air on May 11 as a Gossip Girl episode.

Does this mean she's gong back to blonde?

Is it sad that I am completely excited for the GG glam spin on 80s fashion??

slumdog millionaire covers entertainment weekly

Slumdog Millionaire on-screen lovers and off-screen success stories Dev Patel (wearing Burberry) and Frieda Pinto (wearing a yellow Roberto Cavalli gown) pose with their eight Oscar statues on the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly.

Here’s how they got started in the biz: Dev, now 18, was recommended by Danny Boyle’s daughter who saw him on the naughty British drama Skins. Freida was a 24-year-old model and TV host who had never scored an acting role before Slumdog. Anil, 49, was already a megastar in India before he was persuaded to play Slumdog’s villainous game-show host by his son.

Anil: “I have been in films as a leading man for the last 25 years. I’d done over 100 films as a hero. My son said, ‘Dad, enough of playing a good man – you have to do this.’ I started shooting, and I changed as a human being. I am from a very simple background, almost like from the slums. Now, what a special time. It’s magic.”

Dev: “I was a 17-year-old kid. I didn’t really know where I was going to end up,” he says. “And this film sort of fell in my lap. It feels like destiny in a way. Even now, the film winning the Oscar is very surreal. The character’s given me so much, not only as an actor but as a person. I remember when production began, I was a ball of nerves, didn’t really know how to work in front of a camera or how to express myself. I was a lot more introverted. And Danny Boyle came along – and this incredible city, which taught me about being an optimist. I feel I can hold my head up high now. I feel like I matured five years in the space of five months. I’m 18 and I was at the Oscars yesterday!”

Freida: “I was struggling. I was presenting this travel show. I was coming to the end of it and had enjoyed the nine months of traveling. I was like, Oh, now my life’s over. I’m not going to have anything interesting to do. I was frustrated that I hadn’t found the right project. But now I think that the fruit of the struggle ends up being the sweetest taste possible. I mean, this is strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, apples, bananas – the sweetest fruits in the world put together. It changed my life. It made me grow. It’s made me equipped to brave challenges in the future. You can’t predict the future, but I do have this optimism and this hope that if I just continue dreaming and continue working the same way, then I’ll be unstoppable.”

the modern ballerina

Because every girl has dreamed of becoming a ballerina...and a rockstar...at some point in their lives, I present to you, the Capezio Studded Ballet Slipper.

Most of us aspiring prima ballerinas dabbled in after-school ballet classes as tweens. We clumsily leaped to and fro and thought it was totally cool to wear plaid Bar Mitzvah boxer shorts over our pink leotards and tights. Now that we are grown we regret our disinterest in the soft pinks, chiffons, leg warmers, and cardigans. Relive the dream, without the rigorous classes the likes of only the world's Kelly Ripa's can keep up with, and don a pair of ballet slippers for old times sake.

Defy convention, step beyond the stuffy dance studio, and rock these ballet slippers with a cute dress and tights, or gasp...bare legged. And a word to the wise, perhaps forgo the tutu.

Even if you're not into the wannabe ballerina look, do yourself a favor and check out the site: Bona Drag. Self described as a store "showcasing a tightly curated collection of ladies flair and general trinkets," this fabulous find is sure to please.

Mary-Kate Olsen Debuts Elizabeth and James Shoes

Mary-Kate Olsen sat front and center (next to Nicole Richie) at the Proenza Schouler show to check out the designing duo’s fall ‘09 line. The tiny star was also showing off something new of her and sister Ashley’s own design: Elizabeth and James shoes!

The celebrity-turned-designer coordinated her turquoise dress and white Elizabeth and James blazer with a pair of black suede wedge heels from the new Elizabeth and James shoe line due out this spring.

Mary-Kate’s pair are actually a prototype directly from the factory and is the line’s take on an ankle bootie, but with a sexy cut-out to show more skin.

I personally LOVE these shoes! What do you think?

former spice girl gets rave reviews

Victoria Beckham, former Spice Girl, and current wife of David Beckham, returned to Fashion Week (she started her dress collection with 12 styles in September 2008) with an expanded collection of gowns, jackets and embellished minis. The runway show kicked off to rave reviews.

Style.com says, “These dresses look so well-made, so of-the-moment yet also timeless…that they do the talking for [Beckham]”. The International Herald Tribune found the designer as a stand-out among her celeb-designer peers: “Beckham has succeeded in creating a collection in her own image with playful gestures and with a sense that, unlike most celebrity lines, she would be proud and pleased to wear every piece herself.” And WWD seems to think Victoria might be evolving into a fashion heavy hitter. “Though too early to tell — a mere two collections into her second career — judging from the controlled lineup she showed on Sunday, it seems that [Beckham] may indeed be no lightweight. (Figuratively, that is. Formerly Posh is still a slip of a girl.)”

PEOPLE caught up with the designer at Armani/5th Avenue store opening last night and she was still reeling from her her great reviews. “It’s been wonderful,” she gushed. “The reviews have been absolutely outstanding. The retail response has been wonderful. The sales grew, so far, over the previous collection. It has been phenomenal. The whole thing is mind-blowing to be honest. I love what I do.”

As always, the waifish star will surely step out on the town wearing items from the new collection. Check out all the new looks at instyle.com.

MAC Hello Kitty Collection

M.A.C. Cosmetics is releasing a collection of Hello Kitty makeup. The signature Hello Kitty combination of pink, kittens, and Japanese kitsch has entranced millions of women, and M.A.C. is jumping on that bandwagon of cuteness.

M.A.C is no stranger to beauty collaborations, in the past having teamed up with the likes of Dame Edna, French graffiti artist Fafi, Alexander McQueen and Barbie. Hello Kitty has plenty of brand power as well - her face adorns school supplies, guitars, toasters, laptops, lawnmowers, there is a Hello Kitty jet, a Hello Kitty maternity hospital and a Hello Kitty restaurant. But surprisingly Sanrio (the company that owns the Hello Kitty brand) hasn't already released Hello Kitty makeup.

The limited edition makeup collection is far less saccharine and girlish than you might expect from the sweet fat-faced feline. Yes, there is glitter (glitter eyeliner and powder to be exact), and yes, there is lots of pink, but it's all packaged in sophisticated black compacts and the campaign images shot by Nick Knight feature saucy looking models complete with dripping milk and latex hair bows. M.A.C say they wanted to create a collection that was both innocent and mischievous, "more Angelina Jolie than Shirley Temple". Think Hello Kitty, sexed up.

Sandra Bullock Covers InStyle

Sandra Bullock takes the March 2009 cover of InStyle.

The 44-year-old actress has been married to Monster Garage star Jesse James for three years and enjoys being a stepmom to son Jesse Jr., 11, and daughters Chandler, 14, and Sunny, 5.

“Thankfully I married someone who loves me just the way I am – and all the nuttiness that goes into me,” Sandra says. “My greatest joy is making our home what it’s supposed to be. Being a good wife, a good stepmom, a good current wife to the ex-wife. We’re a family.”

As for having her own kids, she said, “If I waited too long, it’s because we were supposed to do other things. If it is just too late? There are millions of children on this planet that I would be honored to call my own.”

When asked what her most memorable fashion moment was, Sandra shared, “My wedding dress. It was beautifully handcrafted, with elegant French lace. Angel Sanchez designed it, and every time I’d try it on, he’d say, “Sandra, please [lose] five pounds!” I apologize, Angel. I didn’t give him those five pounds, but guess what? That round, shiny, happy person was me.”

On her diet "cheat day": I start Friday night and I end Saturday night. But it is not so regimented. I'll make lists of what I want to eat this week or next week. I was in the store Marfa and they had this dark chocolate with bacon in it so I've g otta try that! I eat really well because I can afford to. Like last night I had brown rice and black beans and some steamed vegetables so today I'm going to have all kinds of good stuff! I love sweets, like Viennese pastry, raw cookie dough, or a nice bowl of Lucky Charms with milk that I eat in bed watching SNL. That's heaven right there!

More Woes for Grey's Anatomy

Katherine Heigl and her on-and-off-screen friend and costar T.R. Knight are hanging up their scrubs and leaving Grey’s Anatomy.

“Yes, she is [leaving],” co-star James Pickens Jr. (Dr. Richard Webber) tells Us Weekly. “Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best. [TR Knight's] going too. He just wanted to pursue other career paths.”

“Right now, the whole thing is in the hands of their agents and ABC’s lawyers,” an insider tells EW. “Something will probably be worked out soon, but it’s a safe bet that Katherine and T.R. won’t be returning as series regulars next season.”

As characters are falling out, does Grey's anatomy have much of a future?

Hilary Duff for DKNY Jeans

DKNY Jeans is teaming up with yet another celebrity. Hilary Duff has just announced that she’s partnering with the label to co-create a collection of rocker-chic pieces for the Femme for DKNY Jeans collection. And the partnership was a natural choice for Hilary, who made sure she was picking the right partner.

“I took time finding the right fashion house to collaborate with in a design partnership,” she says. “I have always adored and worn DKNY jeans, so it made perfect sense to reach out to them. We hit it off immediately, sharing a design vision offering something special for young women like me.”

And what do women like Hilary want? Versatility, for one thing. Duff plans to fill the collection with multi-functional garments, including tunics with removable cowl scarves and skinny jeans with loops that adjust between thin and wide belts. The multi-platinum star is also making sure the collection reflects her signature style by balancing feminine details like poppies and sequins with tougher elements like vinyl, motorcycle details and menswear fabrics. Prices for the pieces, which will hit stores in August, will range from $39 for a tee to $129 for outerwear.

Mandy Moore Shuts Down Her Clothing Line Mblem

After almost three years, Mandy Moore’s clothing line Mblem is shutting its doors. The contemporary line launched in 2005 and was frequently spotted on the singer-actress-designer. Though her first foray into fashion is over, Mandy still hopes to try her hand at fashion again one day.

“I love the fashion world. I’m fascinated by it. I’m humbled by it,” she said tells WWD. “If I were to dip my toe back in there, it would have to be the right situation… a great partnership that could represent a true reflection of me and my ideas and you know that wasn’t happening. So next go round, that needs to be top of the list.”

As for now, Mandy is getting back to her roots and concentrating on her music career, releasing Amanda Leigh, a California ’70s-inspired pop album, on May 26.

JFK and Young Clinton

In 1963 Bill Clinton was elected as one of two delegates to represent Arkansas at the American Legion Boys Nation. While in Washington, D.C., the 17-year-old Clinton met President John F. Kennedy, whom he admired greatly. Nearly 30 years later Clinton followed in Kennedy’s footsteps when he was elected the 42nd president of the United States.

top secret

Top Secret is a new line of meant-to-be-seen bras designed by two Miami sisters, Andrea and Michelle Varat.

The collection is understated and sexy. The low-cut Prop Top, a girly take on the sports bra, reveals just the right amount of boob. A similiar cut has lace straps. Then there are the three strapless styles: The Tiny Tube (a classic bandeau) is perfect beneath a racer tank. Shine on Me (satin pleats) should peak out of a low V-neck. And the aptly named Sexy Back (half lace) is prettily on view in a backless number.

The collection comes in a rainbow of colors, from flashy fuchsia to discreet nude.

bride wars brings the fashion

The other day I went and saw Bride Wars with a few girlfriends and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only is the movie absolutely adorable, albeit somewhat predictable, the clothes worn by both main characters, Emma (Anne Hathaway) and Liv (Kate Hudson), were AMAZING.

Emma, a school teacher who doesn't know how to say "no," dons classic dresses and long cardigan combos, while Liv, a powerful attorney, parades around in power suits and Manolos.

The film, set in New York City, is lush with Manhattan scenery. The viewer tags along as the girls traipse between their two apartments, their workplaces, bridal boutiques and vendors, and The Plaza Hotel. Even when Emma turns a horrible shade of orange and Liv looks like a "giant smurf," they manage to look fabulous.

By the way, is it just me, or is Kate Hudson always nearly nude? And brace yourself, Anne Hathaway is thinner than ever (seriously, you'll want to feed her.)

Four Stars - Fantastic Movie!

david yurman bridal

David Yurman recently added a bridal collection to his line, including engagement rings, wedding bands for men and women, necklaces and earrings to adorn the bride and her attendants, and even cuff links for grooms. Many styles feature antique cushion-cut diamonds. Bands start at $550; engagement rings start at $10,000.

The centerpiece of the collection is the David Yurman Signature Cut Engagement ring. After two years of study and development, David created an exclusive new diamond cut. It is a spectacularly brilliant, perfectly proportioned, “hearts and arrows”, cushion-cut, design with amazing light return.

Ten styles of engagement rings are available, and center stones come in three shapes: round, oval, and the new David Yurman Signature Cut Diamond, a cushion. Yurman's signature cable motif is visable in the collection, which is crafted in 18k gold and platinum.

Patricia Fields takes on Shopaholic

For those of us still mourning the absence of weekly Sex and the City episodes (yeah yeah, we know its been half a decade since the season finale), there is a new style icon to watch out for. Confessions of a Shopaholic’s Rebecca Bloomwood, portrayed by Isla Fisher, is taking over the Manhattan streets in a whirl of designer goodies. With the help of Emmy-Award winning costume designer Patricia Field — the mastermind behind Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada — Fisher takes the much-loved fiction character of Sophia Kinsella’s Shopaholic series to life.

“This character just shopped her life away,” Field tells PEOPLE, “Her wardrobe was massive. Her room was filled with racks and accessories all over the place, and it was like she lived in her closet.”

Patricia and Isla worked together to create a character with a “very harajuku” style. Never one to simply wear jeans and a T-shift, Rebecca is all about the accessories (from hats and gloves to bags and a signature green scarf), which, according to Field, is the key to staying fashion forward on a tight budget.

“Don’t buy clothes, buy accessories,” she advises. “Accessories in general are what really create your look, more so than your clothing. You tell a story with accessories.”

The famed costume designer says of the movie, which opens on February 13, “It’s fashion. It’s funny, it’s frivolous and it’s frantic.”
